The city of East Helena, along with the Montana Preservation Alliance, received a $6,000 grant from the Montana History Foundation to restore and display historic Star of David windows from a former smelter in the area. The windows were built in 1900 and were a part of the smelter building which was demolished in 2009. The restoration project will be led by restoration carpenter Mary Webb and is expected to be completed this summer. The windows will be incorporated into a larger restoration project at the East Helena Volunteer Fire Hall. Other projects funded by the Montana History Foundation were also mentioned in various locations. |

In September, over 6,000 new businesses were registered in Montana, an increase from the previous year's 4,900 registrations. Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen expressed that each new business represents opportunity, job creation, and stronger communities within the state. Montana is on course to exceed the total number of new businesses registered in 2024, which was 64,000, continuing a five-year growth trend. However, the number of businesses inactivating annually has also increased alongside the new growth. In 2023, there were about 59,000 new businesses and 31,000 inactivated, while 2024 saw around 64,000 new businesses and 36,000 inactivated. |
